“The learning process originates from the child’s natural desire for knowledge, and it happens best in cooperative environments that encourage the use of many different forms of expression.”

Chiara Calci was born in Genova, Italy, and has lived in several cities in the North of Italy. She studied in Art History at Trieste University (Universita’ degli Studi di Trieste.)

Chiara obtained her teaching certification for Pre-K and Elementary school in 2000. She became a tenured Pre-K teacher for the Italian public schools that same year and she continued to work in Italian public schools until she moved to the United States in 2009. Chiara is a founding teacher at SIEF and is now our Atelierista, working with all classrooms on arts integration and learning that supports developmental and aesthetic goals.

Maestra Chiara believes that the learning process originates from the child’s natural desire for knowledge, and that it happens best in cooperative environments that encourage the use of many different forms of expression. For this reason she is very excited to be part of the Scuola Italiana Enrico Fermi team, and to be again in touch with her biggest passions: children, education, art and collaboration.
